Understanding Collateral

Updated Apr 4, 2026 Sample Library

Collateral in SampleHQ refers to non-sample items that you include with shipments: brochures, datasheets, marketing flyers, sell sheets, and other printed materials. Collateral is managed separately from samples but can be added to orders alongside them.

How collateral differs from samples

  • Samples are physical product examples your prospects evaluate (labels, packaging, substrates).
  • Collateral is supporting marketing material that accompanies samples (brochures, spec sheets, capability guides).

They are stored in separate sections of the sidebar and have their own categories, but both can be added to the same order.

Where to find collateral

Go to Collateral in the sidebar. The Collateral section has its own listing page, categories, and search, similar to the sample library.

Adding collateral to orders

When creating an order, you can add collateral items to your cart alongside samples. The fulfillment team sees both samples and collateral in the order details so they know exactly what to include in the shipment.
