AI Configuration Modes

The AI Assistant can operate in three modes. Only account owners can change the AI mode.

Disabled

AI is turned off for the entire workspace. No team members can access the AI Assistant. Use this if your organization does not want AI features enabled.

Managed

SampleHQ provides the AI service. No setup required. The AI is ready to use immediately. This mode is available on all plans and is the default for new workspaces.

The managed AI service has a network-level kill switch that SampleHQ can use if needed.

BYOK (Bring Your Own Key)

Connect your own AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or other supported providers) using your own API key. This gives you more control over the AI model used and your data handling. BYOK is available on Pro and Enterprise plans.

How to change the mode

  1. Go to Workspace Settings > System Settings.
  2. Find the AI configuration section.
  3. Select the mode you want.
  4. If choosing BYOK, enter your API key and select your provider.
  5. Save.

Auto-detection

When a user accesses the AI Assistant for the first time, SampleHQ automatically detects the current mode and configures the interface accordingly.
