# AI Usage and Limits

SampleHQ tracks AI usage to help you monitor consumption and costs, especially if you are using BYOK mode with your own API key.

## What is tracked

- **Token count:** The number of input and output tokens used across all AI interactions.

- **Request count:** How many AI requests have been made.

- **Cost tracking:** Estimated cost based on token usage and provider pricing.

## Rate limits

To prevent excessive usage, AI requests are rate-limited. The specific limits depend on your plan and AI mode. If you hit a rate limit, wait a moment before making another request.

## Viewing usage

Account owners can view AI usage data in **System Settings**. This shows a breakdown of usage over time so you can monitor trends and budget accordingly.

## Managed vs BYOK costs

In Managed mode, AI costs are included in your SampleHQ subscription. In BYOK mode, you pay your AI provider directly based on your usage.
